This coffee preparation method is very simple to use at home or when travelling. It has been a popular coffee preparation method in the Baltic countries for many years. Lot of people make coffee with the in-cup method, especially in the morning.
How to brew coffee with the In-Cup method
- Put fresh coffee into a cup. Use a rounded tablespoon or a Paulig golden scoop (7g). Use 7-10 grams of coffee per 200 ml of water.
- Pour hot water (92-96˚C) into the cup so that it soaks into all the ground coffee evenly.
- Stir a little and let the coffee brew for 3 minutes.
- Stir the coffee again, allowing the different intensity flavours to mix equally in the cup.

- Use correct water temperature.
- Don’t leave the coffee to go cold as it gets very bitter.
