Emmi and Ulla

16.2.2014

Paulig Institute is the super cozy training facility at Vuosaari roaster that offer coffee courses mainly for professional baristas, but also for home barista enthusiasts. They are eager to spread the passion for coffee. I also heard a gossip that their new web training platform. We are really waiting for that!

Emmi about Ulla

Ulla is always happy and breezy. I love her determinant and temperamental personality. Ullas specialty is to always be five minutes early and call me two minutes before the meeting “Emmi, where are you”.

At work Ulla is very pedantic and a fair. However, sometimes the wilderness of her shows up and that’s when we have the best laughs together. Ulla is loyal and therefore it’s very easy to work with her. She is all the same in private as at work. We are both that way and I believe that it is one of our strengths in our work that we are both personalities. We both also speak straightforward. I think we make a good team because we are so similar. Ulla also never puts her own advantage before others.

Ulla enjoys tasting coffees from different origins so it's difficult to say which coffee is her favorite one - although Kenya always tastes good. Lately she's been excited about Aeropress, but at home she uses French press. I guess that when Ulla fancies an espresso based coffee drink she chooses either espresso or cappuccino.

One of my best memories together with Ulla is our trip to Berlin and the coffee training we had that was really stressful, but also very inspirational. After completing the test and receiving the important certificated, we explored the nightlife of great Berlin. Good times!

Ulla about Emmi

Emmi is one of the most honest people I know and I never have to wonder what she really thinks because she says everything straight. In addition, she never tries to pretend anything she is not. Everybody always falls in love with Emmi for her easygoing personality. She is one of those who give you energy and I love the way she always carries pastilles in her bag.

I could imagine that Emmi's favorite coffee is Kenya filtered with Hario, but at home she uses French press. One thing is sure, she is a filter coffee person, one of the coffee geeks who never mixes milk with her coffee. Only exception is espresso macchiato which she likes a lot, though, it has to be very well made. I guess we both enjoy exploring new coffees and test new ways to brew coffee.

I think it’s funny that we unconsciously often carry similar clothes. At the very first day when Emmi began working at Paulig we had the same clothes and here we walked around as some crazy twins or something. When Emmi is having training sessions outside Vuosaari roaster I feel like something important is missing. You couldn’t ask for a better colleague.
