UTZ CERTIFIED is a programme that brings welfare to coffee plantations sustainably. The certification programme is based on  strict guidelines which help growers to develop their expertise in growing coffee while respecting the environment. Certified plantations are committed to taking good care of the people working there and their families, the environment, and the quality of the coffee.

The cultivation methods in the procedural guidelines improve the quality of the coffee harvest and boost the plantations’ productivity. A larger, better-quality harvest, combined with the premium paid for certified coffee beans, raises the growers’ incomes. Certification also guarantees that the plantation workers and their families have adequate housing, clean drinking water, health services, and an opportunity for the children to go to school.
